Health Through Deep Breathing

Featured

Welcome to my blog : Health Through Deep Breathing

Dear reader ! The Nature has provided the human body everything, both inside the body as well as outside the body, to keep fit and healthy. This is  right from the conception and birth to living throughout the  different stages of human life. The human body is composed of mainly Five Basic Elements : Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Sky (empty space). The same elements are also the basic elements of the universe. So, the human beings, with few exceptions due to genetic defects, are made to live a healthy life in conformity with natural surroundings.

Bacteria & Virus

These are part of living organisms. The human body’s Immune System has the capacity to fight and kill or neutralize the attacks of all disease-causing bacteria and viruses automatically, provided our immune system is healthy and has not been weakened by our wrong eating and living habits.  So, in order to live a healthy life, we have to be health-conscious. Being health-conscious means :-knowing and living in harmony with the Nature-the internal and external environment of human body; providing and protecting ourselves with right food, right thinking and living a right life-style. To be healthy and to live healthy life is accepting our own responsibility not only as an individual or a family, but also as a member of a community or a citizen of a country. The illness causes discomfort and a financial burden to all :-the individual, the family, the community and the nation.

Maintaining or Regaining Health Naturally

The health without medicines is not only possible, it is the most desirable and natural  way of living our day-to-day life on this planet. I have already  created one website on this subject matter and written some articles on the importance of self-control and habit-reform in maintaining or regaining health through natural means.  The readers are requested to click at the following link to read more at my website http://www.healthwithoutmedicines.com

Here, in my present website www.healththroughdeepbreathing.com , I will be concentrating exclusively on the element of Air; one of the five basic elements of human body viz. Air, Water, Fire, Earth and Sky (the empty space).  The air is the life-line of our body, and rightly so, this element is widely discussed, debated and analyzed both by the ancient and modern scholars. As a result, we have various breathing exercises or methods or techniques to help us to maintain or to regain our health naturally; using the breathing process only.

The Aim & Objective of my websites

As I have seen and experienced through my own life till date, we damage our own health and suffer diseases by not paying attention to our own body;  doing wrong choices and actions;  eating wrong foods; following wrong eating and living habits. And very recently, I have come to know that we do not breathe properly and we use only 21% of the capacity of our lungs. The scholars have claimed that more than  150 diseases, mostly considered as incurable by conventional medicine, can be taken better care of and managed by learning to breathe properly. So, the aim and objective of my websites is to make the readers health conscious and show them the natural means to maintain or regain their health or the health of their near and dear ones. But, I am not a doctor or a health care professional and my articles are only informatory in nature for education purpose for the benefit for all human beings for free. The consultations with a doctor or a health care professional are desirable and recommended very strongly. In health matters, the choices made by the individual are very important and only the concerned individual is responsible for his or her choices as regard to personal health.

Human Body and the Breathing Process

The Human Body is Aerobic

The organisms that use oxygen in the breathing process and respiration are aerobic whereas organisms  that do not use oxygen are anaerobic. The human body is aerobic, and so requires oxygen to generate energy. This process is called – Aerobic Respiration. In simple terms, it is cellular respiration: a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then  release waste products.

Distinction between Respiration and Breathing

These are two distinctive processes  of human body; the respiration occurs inside the human body being part of metabolism, the breathing is the process of inhaling and exhaling the air. The important aspect of breathing process  is that it is  both conscious and unconscious.

Breathing and Deep Breathing

The human body can not live without breathing. So, we are always breathing even without conscious of our breath while talking, walking, sleeping or being busy or engrossed in other matters of day-to-day life. While doing so, sometimes, we forget to breathe for a while or we don’t breathe properly. The startling fact is that we use only 21% the capacity of our lungs. This affects our health in the long run resulting into various diseases. The process can be reversed and optimized by breathing consciously: the deep breathing. So, the deep breathing is to learn some methods or techniques to increase the supply of oxygen by using or activating the idle capacity of lungs. Hence, the deep breathing is conscious breathing. The benefits are enormous in maintaining or regaining health naturally. I have already written following articles on my another website on the subject. The readers are requested to read and share my articles with family and friends.  http://www.healthwithoutmedicines.com/2011/08/breathing-and-oxygen/

The Deep Breathing Exercises

The ancient scholars in different parts of the world took note of the importance of the breathing process, although their objectives were different. Consequently, we have inherited from our past such wonderful methods and techniques such as Yoga, Pranayama and Tai Chi etc.  Nowadays, even modern scholars have realized the importance of breathing process in maintaining or regaining health, and so we have more breathing techniques or practices developed in our times such as Yoga & Pilates etc. and some mechanical devices. I will examine all the old and new breathing techniques in my subsequent articles one by one. My next article on Pranayama : Seven Breathing Exercises.  Please continue visiting. The readers are requested to offer comments to enable me to create better content for the benefit of humanity at large.

Thank you for your visit.

The Human Body and the Air

The Element of Air

Air is one of five basic elements of life viz. Air, Water, Earth, Fire & Sky. As I discussed in my article “The Human Body : Five Basic Elements” in my another website, www.healthwithoutmedicines.com , the human body as well as the universe is composed of all these five elements. However, in the present article, I am writing about element of air exclusively.

Air : Defined

In pure physical terms, air is the name given to atmosphere of earth,  used in breathing and photosynthesis. Dry air contains (by volume) 78.09% Nitrogen, 20.95% Oxygen, 0.93% Argon, 0.039% Carbon Dioxide plus small amounts of other gases (trace gases) and water vapors of roughly 1%.  We know that the air content and atmospheric pressure varies at different levels of atmosphere; the air suitable for survival of plants and animals    ( including humans) is only available in troposphere; the lowest portion of earth’s atmosphere

The Nitrogen Cycle

Nitrogen occurs in all living organisms. The Nitrogen Cycle describes movement of the element from air into biosphere and organic compounds, then back into the atmosphere. The human body contains roughly 3% of Nitrogen by weight. Nitrogen is an essential building block of amino and nucleic acids, essential to life on earth.  The human activities such as fuel consumption, use of artificial nitrogen fertilizers and release of nitrogen into the waste water,     are affecting the Global Nitrogen Cycle.

Atmospheric Nitrogen ( which is about 78.09%  as mentioned above) must be processed or fixed to be used by the plants. Some fixation occurs in lightning strikes, but the major fixation is done by free-living or symbiotic bacteria. Hence, the importance of saving the environment from pollution.

Carbon Dioxide & Oxygen

Elemental Oxygen is produced by cyanobacteria, algae and plants. It is used in cellular respiration for all complex life. Free oxygen is too chemically reactive to appear on earth without photosynthetic  action of living organisms, which use the energy of sunlight to produce elemental oxygen from water.

As part of  Carbon Cycle, known  as photosynthesis, the cyanobacteria, algae and plants absorb carbon dioxide, light and water to produce carbohydrate energy for themselves and release Oxygen as a waste product. Carbon Dioxide is also the bye-product of metabolism in human body and combustion; emitted from volcanoes, hot springs, and geysers; and freed from carbonate rocks by dissolution.

Oxygen : the Basis & Health-Keeper of Human Life

As I told in my article, “The Quantity & Quality of Oxygen” published in my another website www.healthwithoutmedicines.com , the oxygen is not only the basis of human body, it is the health-keeper of our body. Ancient scholars rightly viewed  air as the Life-force. Now we know through physiology,  the importance of the supply of oxygen to our body. The lungs are the main instruments or organs of human body responsible for supply of oxygen through the breathing process. Keeping in view the importance of this function of lungs, I have devoted  this website www.healththroughdeepbreathing.com to focus on breathing exercises and breathing techniques in maintaining or regaining health through natural means. In my next article, I will concentrate on the breathing process prior to writing articles on various breathing exercises and practices.
